It may be the middle of winter but sun, shorts and Slurpees were the order of the day.

Environment Canada initially predicted a high of 13 C today but by 3 p.m. MT, the mercury was pushing 17 C.

The warm weather broke record temperatures — the highest on record was 13.1 C, set back in 2007.

Patios were open downtown and were full of people eager to revel in the temporary spring-like temperatures.

"I'm actually hot, we're gonna start complaining about the heat soon," said Tim Gilhuly, who was enjoying the weather downtown.

According to Environment Canada, the warm weather is expected to last in to Tuesday.
