The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. Monday after Surrey RCMP received reports of a man threatening a woman with a gun in the 12800 block of 100th Avenue.
At the scene, officers found the victim inside the house. She was taken to hospital in serious condition.
Surrey RCMP initially reported that the victim had been shot but later said she had sustained head injuries in the assault but was not shot.
The suspect had reportedly fled from the scene on foot and was located and arrested. Police say the suspect was unarmed.
Officers are currently interviewing witnesses and canvassing the neighbourhood with the assistance of police dog services.
The victim and the suspect are believed to know each other.
