EDMONTON - The New Democrats are hitting the road to get their own take on what Albertans want Premier Jim Prentice to do given the collapse in oil prices.

NDP Leader Rachel Notley says she wants to make sure that all voices are heard, not just those who want to cut budgets.

Prentice and his MLAs are currently visiting communities to get feedback on how to keep the economy going despite low oil prices that have sucked billions of dollars from the treasury.

Prentice has said almost everything is on the table, including the wages of Alberta's public-sector workers.

The NDP tour begins Wednesday in Medicine Hat and will include former leader Brian Mason.

Mason has announced he will run again in the next election.

He says that with Prentice moving the Tories more to the right, a progressive alternative such as the NDP is more important than ever.
