Toronto police have charged actor J.P. Manoux with voyeurism on Tuesday after two women found cameras hidden throughout their rented downtown condo.
The 45-year-old was arrested after two women made the discovery on Jan. 22 and called police. The cameras were found to be connected to the Internet at the time.
Det. Viv Meik told The Huffington Post Canada the Los Angeles-based actor agreed to travel to Toronto to turn himself in after he and his lawyer were contacted by police after an investigation.
Manoux splits his time between Hollywood and Toronto. He is a regular on the CTV sitcom “Spun Out” and has also appeared on other high-profile TV series including “Modern Family,” “The League,” and “Community.”
Bell Media’s vice-president of communications told The Huffington Post Canada the broadcaster was “shocked” to learn about Manoux’s arrest, calling the charges “serious allegations.”
“We can confirm that all future broadcast plans for ‘Spun Out,’ including this Sunday’s post Super Bowl sneak peek, have been indefinitely suspended,” Scott Henderson said in an email, adding CTV will be cooperative in the case.
Police believe there may be be more victims as other tenants may have lived in the unit at 1171 Queen St. West in the past. An investigation remains on-going.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 416-808-1400 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS.
Manoux is scheduled to make a court appearance on March 11.
