Former comedian Gab Roy, in a video on comedy and current affairs website BuzzBonin.com, admitted on Wednesday to the charges laid against him last May for sexual contact with a minor.

"I'm pleading guilty because I'm guilty," Roy said in the 15-minute video, in which he intermittently puffs on a large cigar.

Roy was charged in May with sexual touching of a minor under 16, incitement to sexual touching and internet luring.

The alleged victim, a 15-year-old girl, released a video last year in which she recounted the events that ultimately led to the charges.

She held up a series of sheets of paper with different messages on them, among them that she tried to commit suicide following her encounter with Roy.

Quebec provincial police began investigating after seeing her video.

In the BuzzBonin.com video, Roy said he was remorseful for having done something wrong. He admonished his supporters for attacking the credibility of his accuser, saying it made him realize that rape culture exists.

He said he didn't want there to be injustice for the victim and that he deserved his impending punishment.
