These Plus-Size Models Prove That Fitness Wear Is For Everyone

Plus-Size Models Prove That Fitness Wear Is For Everyone

Finally, we're seeing women who don't look like Karlie Kloss model fitness wear, and they look gorgeous.

The February/March 2015 issue of Bust magazine includes a fitness fashion photo shoot that features plus-size models, all whom are co-founders of ALDA, a group whose goal is to "alter perceptions, engage and empower other females and create meaningful change through awareness campaigns, charitable events and messaging."

ALDA co-founders Inga Eiriksdottir, Julie Henderson, Ashley Graham, Marquita Pring, and Danielle Redman star in the photo spread and speak out about how they're hoping the group can be an inclusive place for women who feel as if they're not represented by the fashion industry.

"I never really understood that gap between being a curvier model and a straight-size model; it didn't really make any sense to me," Eiriksdottir said. "As a group, I thought we'd have more leveraging power ... to help push the limits in the fashion industry ... I think women want to see more women they can relate to; they don't want to see everything as photoshopped."

The models also discuss how they don't want to be labeled solely as plus-size.

"I've been called a plus-size model for 15 years," said Graham in a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot. "I don't have any shame with it, I don't really care, if you want to call me 'plus,' that's fine, but at the end of the day, I know who I am. I am Ashley Graham, and I am a model — I am not just a plus-size model."

The idea behind the photo shoot is to show that women of all sizes can be healthy and fit.

"Every body is beautiful and every body is different," said Redman. "Some people are meant to be a size negative zero and some people are meant to be a size 16."

The photo shoot proves it. Wearing sexy fitness outfits, including a plunging bodysuit, crop tops and tight workout pants, the women show that you can look sexy no matter what your shape.
