Suge Knight Arrested For Murder In Compton After Alleged Hit-And-Run

Rap Mogul Suge Knight Arrested For Murder

Suge Knight has been arrested on a murder charge after allegedly running over a man in Compton and leaving the scene.

TMZ reports Knight arrived on the film set of the "Straight Outta Compton" NWA biopic around 3 p.m. local time in his truck when security asked him to leave. A fight at the film set location ensued between two males -- who sources told the website instigated the fight -- and Knight after which the former Death Row rap mogul returned to his vehicle.

At a press conference Thursday evening police indicated a second fight took place at a nearby fast food location which is where the male was killed. Witnesses told police they saw Knight run over the victim twice before fleeing.

The victim was identified by TMZ as Terry Carter. Reports indicate another male, actor Cle "Bone" Sloan, was also hit and in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Lt. John Corina from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department detective unit, told the Los Angeles Times the initial fight began on the film set with one of the two men being a member of the film crew. Roughly 20 minutes after the initial fight the victims were allegedly followed by Knight into the parking lot of Tam's Burgers.

"They obviously knew each other," Corina told the newspaper. "They got into some kind of verbal altercation and it escalated. So far the people we talked to said it looked like an intentional act so we are handling it like a homicide." The paper also reported Carter was 55 years old.

A video posted to TMZ includes audio from an unidentified male. "...when he runs over Bone, Terry's in the driveway in front of his car and he runs over Terry and smashes him and everything. So now he's not even breathing, they're trying to resuscitate him right now. So he don't look like he gonna make it." The video shows the parking lot with medics working on a male who is strapped to a stretcher on the ground. Police are also shown securing the area for evidence.

Following the incident a bulletin to Southern California law enforcement officials was sent out stating to "be on the lookout" for Knight and was wanted for questioning for "187" (murder). At 9:30 p.m. local time Knight's truck was found in an Westwood parking lot abandoned.

Earlier this morning, Jan. 30, Knight turned himself in for questioning with cops formally arresting him on murder charges. Bail was set at $2,000,000 US. Witnesses claim Knight threw his vehicle in reverse twice and claim Knight intended to hit one of the people he was fighting with.

The Hollywood Reporter says the film shoot included Dr. Dre and Ice Cube but neither were present on the set at the time events transpired. Knight's attorney James Blatt told NBC News Knight was driving the truck and deemed it a "tragic accident" before Knight surrendered to authorities.

Knight is no stranger to controversy. Last August the co-founder of Death Row Records was shot six times at a West Hollywood night.
