BOWDEN, Alta. - A driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries after he tried to beat a train at a railway crossing in central Alberta.

But he didn't make it and a Canadian Pacific freight train collided with his transport truck near Bowden.

The RCMP say charges are pending against the truck driver.

Staff Sgt. Joe Sangster says the driver was heading into Bowden and the train was blowing its whistle.

Sangster says no cars derailed as a result of the collision.
