Hit-and-run driver sought in Abbotsford collision that killed cyclist

The hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a cyclist on Mt. Lehman Road in Abbotsford, B.C. last month has not yet been identified, and police are looking for the public's help.

The driver of a truck travelling southbound on the busy road struck Ronald James Scott, who was cycling in the same direction at about 11 p.m. PT on Jan. 29, according to a statement from Abbotsford police.

Scott, 61, was severely injured and died at the scene despite help from ambulance paramedics.

Investigators have analyzed debris from the crash, which corresponds to a Ford F150 pickup truck from the years 2012 to 2014.

Scott grew up on his family's farm in Manitoba, and worked in finance in Winnipeg, B.C. and Alberta, according to an obituary in the Winnipeg Free Press.

Abbotsford major crime detectives are appealing to anyone who was driving in the area at the time of the collision to call them at 604-859-5225.
