Some Car2Go users are saying Montreal’s cold snap is causing problems with the popular car-sharing service.

Consumers are reporting that the cars either won’t shift out of park or are stuck in the snow when they try to use them.

Mandy Nevakshonoff is a Car2Go user in Montreal. She said, on average she runs into problems 20 per cent of the time she uses the Smart cars in the cold.

"You enter into the car, you swipe your card, it starts … When you press it to go into drive, it just won’t go out of park,” she said.

She’s one of a handful of voices trying to get the company to pay attention to Canada’s frigid winter realities.

Kristi de Bonville is reliant on the service, using cars up to four times a week.

"I find the car, I'm happy that it's close to my house. I go through the rituals and then it doesn't move, it doesn't start. It's infuriating.”

Car2Go has not responded to multiple calls from the CBC.
