Nova Scotia's Snowfall Has RCMP Seeking 'Old Man Winter'

Police in the Maritimes are looking to arrest the man responsible for all the misery residents have faced this winter.

Police in the Maritimes want to arrest the man responsible for all their winter misery.

The Nova Scotia RCMP have issued a news release calling for the public's help to apprehend "Old Man Winter."

He's "wanted in relation to a series of storms in Nova Scotia over the past two weeks leaving behind massive amounts of snow across the province," the tongue-in-cheek release said Wednesday.

The RCMP noted that Old Man Winter's associates include Frosty the Snowman, Mother Nature and Shubenacadie Sam. Really.

"We know that Old Man Winter is calm, cool and collected but may crack under high pressure," Nova Scotia RCMP Cpl. Greg Church said in a statement.

The alert comes after the province saw as much as 60 centimetres of snowfall recently.

And it doesn't look like Old Man Winter will stop anytime soon.

CBC News meteorologist Kalin Mitchell said Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and P.E.I. can expect 10 to 15 centimetres more of snow as a low-pressure system moves over Nova Scotia on Thursday.

The Mounties aren't the only ones trying to laugh off winter.

Kevin McGrath of Dieppe, N.B. posted a funny video to YouTube on Sunday that showed how much snow has piled up around his house.
