Toronto Police will hold a press conference Tuesday after a mysterious tunnel was discovered near York University.

Const. Victor Kwong told the Canadian Press the tunnel was found by a Toronto and Region Conservation Authority employee, who then reported it to police.
The CBC reported the “sophisticated” tunnel was dug in a wooded area, and measured seven metres long and 2.5 metres deep — tall enough for an adult to stand in.
Deputy Chief Mark Saunders will speak with the media regarding the reported tunnel, which was discovered near the Rexall Centre — a tennis venue which will be used during the PanAm games this summer. The Toronto Conservation Authority said it has no details.
Police are saying little else about the tunnel, including its purpose or who dug it. CTV News is reporting police are continuing to investigate, but do not believe it poses a security threat.
680 News reports the tunnel was discovered about a month ago and has since been filled in by authorities. The radio station also reported police confirmed a power generator was left behind.
