Angels Josh Hamilton meeting MLB officials: report

02/25/2015 05:02 EST | Updated 04/27/2015 05:59 EDT
Injured Angels' outfielder Josh Hamilton reportedly is meeting with Major League Baseball officials in New York Wednesday over what's been called a "disciplinary issue."

The 33-year-old Hamilton who underwent shoulder surgery this month will not be attending training camp in Arizona this year because he's not expected to be able to play until May. He's been working out in Houston and had the surgery on his AC shoulder joint after continuing to experience pain. Hamilton was limited to only 89 games with the Angels last year in his second season with the Angels after signing as a free agent.

Angels' general manager Jerry Dipoto confirmed that Hamilton is in New York and was meeting with MLB officials but did not give a reason why.

Two years ago Hamilton had 43 home runs, 128 RBI and a .285 average while with the Texas Rangers. Last season he produced only 10 homers, 44 RBI and a .263 average in what amounted to just over a half season.
