Dude Covered In Mentos Plunges Into Bath Of Coke Zero. Hilarity Ensues

It's the experiment you never knew you wanted to see.

It's the experiment you never knew you wanted to see.

A YouTube video by Japanese viral producer Hajime, originally posted last summer, is now trending in North America. In the video, Hajime covers himself in Mentos and jumps into a bath of Coke Zero.

He applies tape to several Mentos mints and fills a tub with the fizzy drink. He then sticks the Mentos on his body and takes the plunge. It isn't quite the explosion several urban legends might have led you to expect, but it is one hilarious, carbonated mess.

And it's not the first time that people have mixed Mentos with pop and shown it on the Internet.

One of the earliest instances of mixing the mints with a Coca-Cola product happened in 1999, when chemistry professor Lee Marek mixed Diet Coke and Mentos on the "Late Show with David Letterman," according to Know Your Meme.

Then, in 2006, a widely-circulated video showed a veritable geyser emerging when the same two products were mixed together.

And last year, an episode of Epic Meal Empire showed a cast member dressing up as "Mentos Man" and being dumped into a vat of soda.

Now THAT was an explosion.
