Two men were arrested after Durham Regional Police say they saw an alleged drug deal in downtown Whitby. The men in question were said to have four litres of Gamma Hydroxybutyrate (GHB), commonly known as the date rape drug.

The arrest of the men on Feb. 27 led police to search a residence and vehicle in the area. There police say they found 12 additional litres of GHB, 27.8 grams of cocaine, 27.5 grams of marijuana and 5.7 grams of psilocybin, considered a psychedelic.

GHB is dangerous if consumed unknowingly. It is odourless and tasteless and if mixed in a drink, can render someone unconscious for a period of time.

Police report the total street-level value of the drugs is about $7,700. A total of $4,300 in Canadian currency was also seized. In total, two men and two women were arrested and charged.

Anyone with new information about this investigation is asked to contact Acting Sgt. Dan Weiner of the Central West Division Target Team at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1872.

Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
