British actress Lily James plays Cinderella in the upcoming film adaptation of the classic fairytale and although she looks perfect for the part, some critics have pointed out that she looks a bit too much like the typical Disney princess in terms of her small waist.
After the film's trailer was released, the Internet criticized the movie, saying the "Downton Abbey" star's waist was Photoshopped to make it appear smaller.
But was CGI involved to get that tiny waist that's so favoured by Disney's animation team? Lily says no.
"I naturally have a really small waist," Lily explained to the L.A. Times. "The skirt's big and the corset pulls me in, and that's the point. That's the shape [costume designer] Sandy Powell created."
In fact, the 25-year-old was a bit upset about the question, explaining that she lives a healthy lifestyle.
"I think it’s all very hypocritical, and they contradict themselves, and they're drawing more attention to it," she continued. "I think all that stuff's so negative, and you've got to let it wash over your head. I'm so healthy. I've got hips and boobs and a bum and a small waist."
However, fitting into that gorgeous Cinderella dress was no easy task, even for someone as petite as the budding star.
"When [the corset] was on we would be on continuous days so we wouldn't stop for lunch or a lovely tea like this—you'd be sort of eating on the move," she told E! News. "In that case, I couldn't untie the corset. So if you ate food it didn't really digest properly and I'd be burping all afternoon in [Richard Madden]'s face, and it was just really sort of unpleasant. I'd have soup so that I could still eat but it wouldn't get stuck."
While we think Lily looks stunning, it's important to be healthy and recognize that the "Disney Princess" look is not realistic for most women. You look gorgeous just as you are!
