Victor Overfield, former cadets volunteer, charged with child luring

Victor Overfield, formerly a volunteer with Royal Canadian Sea Cadets in North Vancouver and the Navy League Cadets in Vancouver, has been charged with luring a child and invitation to sexual touching.

Overfield, 27, volunteered with the Sea Cadets from 2007 to 2012, and with the Navy League Cadets from 2012 until his arrest in 2014.

Surrey RCMP are asking for anyone with information about the North Vancouver resident to contact them.

"We encourage any persons who may have been a victim, or have any information pertaining to Overfield that would be helpful to the police investigation, to contact us," said Cpl. Bert Paquet.

Overfield was arrested in December and released from custody on conditions to ensure public safety, including no contact with his alleged victim or any other young people.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Surrey RCMP on 604‑599‑0502, or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers on 1‑800‑222‑8477 or at solvecrime.ca.
