Canada's Instagrammers do a great job capturing this country's natural beauty and diversity. Each week we feature one of the country's best Instagrammers.

For our inaugural edition we're featuring Paul Zizka, a nature photographer based in Banff, Alberta whose photos consistently wow us. Here's Paul in his own words:

Paul Zizka is a professional landscape and adventure photographer based in Banff, Alberta. Specializing in photographing in difficult conditions and hard-to-reach places, Paul has a passion for documenting the interplay of light and weather in the mountains and capturing the spirit of adventure

"Adrift", self-portrait, Moraine Lake, Banff National Park, Alberta.

What fuels my efforts out in the wilderness is a constant desire to get to know my subject, the Canadian Rocky Mountains, better and better. I try to take every opportunity to rediscover the place I love in a new, fresh way, whether it means shooting from high up, taking the camera underwater, venturing inside glaciers, or capturing nighttime images.

I've long felt that the best way to improve your photography is to get out of your comfort zone. Mountaineering photography does that for me. It makes photography draining and challenging, but particularly rewarding.

Here's one my client will never use because my feet are in it — ha! Still, nice to get a couple of those accidental selfies when shooting aerials! This one shows Lake Louise, Mirror Lake and Lake Agnes, Banff National Park, Alberta.

From one of my most memorable nights of aurora chasing close to home, in Banff. Amazing to watch the colourful curtains dance above iconic Mount Rundle, and have Vermilion Lakes faithfully reflect the whole scene!

Fellow Canadians @davebrosha and @johnemarriott have inspired me since I started doing photography. They continue to do cutting edge portrait, landscape and wildlife work. This of one of Dave Brosha's phenomenal portraits.
