Man Frantically Digs Out Friend Caught In Avalanche, Saves His Life (VIDEO)

WATCH: Man Frantically Digs Out Friend Caught In Avalanche

This is the stuff of nightmares. Imagine you're out skiing with a friend, and before you know it, you're digging them out of the snow in a rush to save their life.

That's exactly what happened to Australian skier Daniel O'Sullivan and his friend James Mort, who were skiing in the Alps at Les Crosets, along the Swiss-French border, when the snow simply started cascading underneath their skis.

The harrowing footage was caught on helmet cam.

O'Sullivan and some other friends were able to locate Mort after he pushed his ski pole up through the snow.

"My heart was racing, I’m thinking 'Where is he? He’s got to be under here, we've got to find him," O’Sullivan told Australia’s Nine Network.

He was freed about an hour after the incident occurred, local media reported.
