It can be such a comfort when you're in a foreign country and you get a little taste of home -- even if it's not exactly the same.
In this case, a fake Tim Hortons coffee shop was spotted in Seoul, South Korea, according to CTV News.
Canadian expatriate A.J. Specht, originally from Bracebridge, Ont., was biking in the capital city when she saw a familiar red neon sign, but the lettering didn't say "Tim Hortons."
"I remembered seeing Tim Hortons in Maine back in 2008, but the name and logo had been changed to Tim's Bake Shop or something," said Specht to CTV. "I thought, is this another one of those legitimate incarnations? Then I realized it was just a rip-off."
Specht took a photo and posted it to her Facebook page.
Some locations in the United States and abroad are called Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop, but this particular store isn't licensed by the official company, and Tim Hortons isn't pleased.
"We’re thrilled that the Tim Hortons brand is loved and recognized around the world, but we’re always vigilant when it comes to protecting our intellectual property, especially as we expand internationally," said Michelle Robichaud, director of public affairs at Tim Hortons, to CTV News.
"Although we are not currently operating in South Korea, we will continue to take the necessary steps to protect our trademarks," she added.
