Police recover $1M in clothing stolen from Toronto-area malls

York Regional Police say they've seized $1 million worth of stolen clothing during an investigation into an alleged shoplifting ring that has been targeting malls across the Greater Toronto Area.

The investigation began last fall, as police began looking into a theft at the Markville mall.

Last Friday, police say they followed a group of suspects and arrested them after they allegedly "stole clothing from multiple retailers at various malls."

Clothing was seized from a vehicle at that time. Police say a search warrant was executed then at a Toronto home.

Five people are facing charges. Police say they will release more details on this investigation on Tuesday morning.
