Calgary Crash Between Bus, SUV Sends 2 To Hospital

Fiery Crash In Calgary Sends Two To Hospital

Two people were sent to hospital after their SUV collided with a Calgary Transit bus on Sunday evening.

The accident occurred at Macleod Trail and Southport Way, closing the highway for hours.

The SUV caught fire as a result of the crash.

"The vehicle that struck the bus was on fire and one of the patients that was in the car was trapped," said Acting Battalion Chief Paul Leblanc to CTV News Calgary. "So the crews performed a very rapid extrication of the patient while they were fighting the fire on the vehicle, pulled him to safety, and then put the fire out."

Both passengers were taken to Foothills Hospital. Their conditions were not known. The driver of the bus, which was not carrying passengers, escaped injury.
