Within a span of 13 hours earlier this week, two women gave birth to babies on Montreal’s Décarie Expressway, a busy autoroute that cuts through the city.
The first baby was born March 20 at around 1:00 a.m. in a taxi cab with the help of two police officers.
Shortly after 2 p.m. the same day, another woman gave birth.
Mijanou Jodoin said she was on her way to Ste-Justine Hospital, sitting in the passenger seat with her boyfriend driving, when she felt the head coming out.
She ended up giving birth to a baby girl on the Côte-Saint-Luc exit ramp before paramedics arrived.
“Everything was so natural, I was calm,” she told Daybreak.
“I just put the baby on me and she started to cry and I knew she was OK.”
The couple named the baby, their second child, Lexie.
