Cheerful Women Get A Surprise Visit From An Angry-Looking Owl

"I thought it was a puppy dog!"

We've all wondered (or at least, we have) what it would be like if a little owl popped up on our doorstep early in the morning. You can freak out, you can call the authorities or you can fully embrace your new owl friend through the window.

In the video above posted by YouTube user Andrew Emerson, an owl shows up at a Jacksonville, Florida doorstep and can't help but stare deeply at the women inside the house.

The one-minute clip, which shows the filmmaker and her friends impressed by their visitor, shows a small owl blinking, winking and almost mesmerized by what's in front of them. "I thought it was a puppy dog, but it's got claw," says one woman, who can't seem to figure out what the owl is actually looking at.

There are 16 species of owls in Canada, and of course, with all the viral attention they've received over the years, owls come off as cute and sweet creatures. But like any animal not used to human interaction, they often get injured, according to The Owl Foundation. If you do find an injured owl or hit an owl by accident with your vehicle, for example, the organization advises Canadians to contact their local Humane Society or rehabilitator.

But in the meantime, let's all gaze at this curious little fella, who is now been rescued and resides at a bird sanctuary.
