RCMP in Saskatchewan say they will be announcing new charges this morning in a historical sex assault investigation involving former Mountie Alan John Davidson.

Davidson is already facing sex-related charges stemming from his years as a youth coach in B.C.

He was arrested and charged a year ago with eight counts of indecent assault that allegedly happened in the 1970s and '80s while he was a minor hockey and baseball coach.

Police say those alleged offences happened in British Columbia before he joined the police force.

He later served in a number of RCMP detachments in Saskatchewan and lived in Regina, Coronach, Lloydminster, Yorton and North Battleford between 1982 and 1996.

More recently, he's been living in Calgary.

Officials say they will be providing details of the new charges at 11 a.m. CST in Regina.
