Homicide team investigates suspicious death of woman in Surrey

B.C.'s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team [IHIT] is investigating the suspicious death of a woman found at a house in Surrey late Friday.

Surrey RCMP were initially called to the home near 127 Street and 103 Avenue around 11 p.m. PT,

IHIT spokeswoman Sgt. Stephanie Ashton said RCMP called in homicide investigators two-and-a-half hours later after determining the woman's death was suspicious.

"This is not believed to be a random act," said Ashton in a statement. "We have no reason to believe residents in the area are at risk at this time."

Ashton says investigators are now looking into the events that led up the woman's death.

She's asking anyone with information to contact the IHIT tipline at 1-877-551-IHIT [4448].
