Woman on scooter dies in collision with van in Surrey

A woman is dead after her four-wheeled mobility scooter was struck by a van at 96 Avenue and the the King George Boulevard in Surrey, B.C., Sunday around 8 p.m. PT.

Paramedics responding to the accident performed CPR at the scene, then rushed the woman to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Roads were closed for hours in a four-block radius surrounding the accident, but reopened shortly after 1 a.m. PT.

Police haven't said whether the woman had the right-of-way when she was struck. The van's driver stayed at the scene and was cooperating with police.

RCMP continue to investigate the cause.
