Saskatoon Mom: How Much Skin Is Too Much Skin In Ads?

There's some controversy brewing around a Victoria's Secret ad in Midtown Plaza mall in Saskatoon.

A mother of two, Jennifer Campbell, visited the mall with her young boys and eight-year-old niece, and was shocked at how exposed the Victoria's Secret model was in the advertisement.

Her niece voiced discomfort at the ad, saying, "It kind of makes me uncomfortable. She’s practically naked."

When Campbell didn't know how to reply to her niece, she posted to Facebook (under the name Mama Lion Strong) and also wrote a letter to the mall:

The Facebook post has generated thousands of likes and caused much debate among parents and non-parents alike.

Campbell has also called on others to take the initiative and contact Midtown Plaza or their local politician.

Midtown Plaza’s marketing director Daisy Lieu responded to Campbell's complaints in an online statement: "As we've communicated with those individuals, while we understand and empathize with parental concerns, it is simply not our role to censor marketing campaigns as long as they conform to regulatory standards set by Advertising Standards Canada."
