SIU called to investigate fatal police-involved shooting in Kitchener

The province's police watchdog says Waterloo region police were involved in the shooting of a 21-year-old man in Kitchener, who died.

The Special Investigations Unit says it happened after police responded to a call at a residence Thursday night at 77 Brybeck Crescent.

They say there was an "interaction" between police and the man, and he was shot.

The SIU says the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Five SIU investigators and three forensic investigators have been assigned to probe the incident.
