An incident involving what police initially thought was a handgun at Dundas subway station early Tuesday morning resulted in a police chase through the city's subway tunnels.

The gun turned out to be a replica gun.

Police say a man and woman were arguing on the subway platform around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday when another man tried to intervene. The first man then displayed a gun and demanded the victim's wallet.

Despite brandishing the gun, the victim did not comply with the gunman and instead called police. Police chased the suspect down the subway tracks.

When the chase ended, police say they recovered a replica gun. Police have not said where they caught up to the man.
