The Sûreté du Québec now believe Carole Thomas fabricated her account, according to Radio-Canada sources. She is expected to face a public mischief charge.
Thomas spoke with CBC and said she was brought in to speak with the SQ last week, but wouldn't comment further on her case.
Thomas' complaint was made public in February. She came forward and said she had been assaulted in October on the same bike path where the body of homicide victim Jenique Dalcourt was discovered two days later.
She criticized Longueuil police for failing to take her case seriously.
At the time, police spokesman Tommy Lacroix said there were "large grey areas in her story."
Thomas was released on a promise to appear in court on a later date.
