Vancouver police are investigating the discovery of a man's body on the property of Norman Mackenzie House, the residence of UBC president Arvind Gupta.

The body was discovered around 12:30 p.m. PT.

Police say it was not found near the residence, but somewhere further away on the property

Norman Mackenzie House is situated on a fairly large property next to the Museum of Anthropology on Northwest Marine Drive. .

Cpl. Brenda Winpenny says the investigation is at a very early stage, but it the dead man does not have any connection to the president.

We're just trying to determine the circumstances as to how that individual would have ended up where he is," she said. "And the fact he is deceased. So we're obviously taking all investigative avenues as to why that person is deceased,"

Winpenny says there's nothing to indicate the death is suspicious, but police haven't ruled out anything out either.
