Toronto police are warning the public to keep their sport-utility vehicles in their garages where possible, following a rash of thefts in midtown.

Police say there has been a spike in thefts of Toyota and Lexus-brand SUVs since the start of the year in 53 Division.

The vehicles have been stolen from driveways, police say.

Investigators believe that some sort of electronic device may be being used to compromise the vehicles' security systems.

Police want to hear from the members of the public who spot any suspicious persons or see any suspicious activity in the vicinity of their vehicles.
