VICTORIAVILLE, - The federal Tories have landed themselves another high-profile candidate in Quebec.

A Conservative source tells The Canadian Press that Victoriaville Mayor Alain Rayes will announce his candidacy on Monday.

Rayes has been mayor of the central Quebec municipality since 2009 and will seek nomination in Richmond-Arthabaska.

The news comes a few days after a member of the legislature said he wants to run for the Conservatives in a Quebec City riding.

Gerard Deltell of the Coalition for Quebec's Future is considered a good catch who could help the Tories make further inroads in the province.

The Conservatives won five out of 75 seats in Quebec in the 2011 election, down from 10 in 2008.
