It's a good thing it wasn't a grenade.

Barrie police were called to a Essa Road parking lot on Thursday morning after somebody found what they believed was a grenade in a snowbank.

When police arrived at the scene, they saw a person pushing the object with a broom because he wanted to know "if it was real," according to a news release.

It was soon determined that the item was a toy.
