'True Detective' Season 2 Teaser Trailer Has Us Excited For Its Return

Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn didn't have us excited. This does.

We weren't too keen when we heard that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn would front the second season of "True Detective."

But HBO has just released a teaser for the upcoming season. And now we're pumped for its return.

The trailer doesn't tell us much (there's no dialogue, only scenes set to music), but it shows stars Vaughn, Farrell, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch all looking very anguished and stressed.

Which is enough to make us want to watch the new season RIGHT NOW.

The second season, which premieres on HBO on June 21, recounts the tale of three police officers and a criminal in the Los Angeles area.

Farrell portrays Ray Velcoro, a detective stuck between a mobster and his own corrupt police force, while Vaughn plays criminal Frank Semyon, whose attempt to go legit is troubled when a partner is murdered.

McAdams plays Ventura County Sherriff's Office detective Ani Bezzerides, whose ethical code creates conflict with her fellow officers, while Kitsch plays Paul Woodrugh, a highway patrolman trying to distance himself from his past as a war vet.

The season will also feature a "colossal orgy," The Hollywood Reporter said last month.

Creator Nic Pizzolatto is writing all eight episodes of the season. The first two are directed by Justin Lin, best known for helming four films in the "Fast and Furious" franchise.
