The province has introduced legislation to establish the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Saskatchewan.
Under the proposed changes naturopaths would be able to prescribe medications such as high-dose vitamins and folic acid.
It would also make it easier for them to use medical labs for tests.
Dr. Julie Zepp Rutledge, president of the Saskatchewan Association of Naturopathic Practioners, says she is pleased with the legislation.
She says if the bill passes this spring the changes would likely go into effect early next year . (CJME)
