Unless you're one of those employees who lives by their standing desk, 10 glasses of water and spends lunch breaks at the gym, you could probably use a little push to be healthier at the office.

Now since most of us spend a majority of our day at work, we often use this time sitting at desks. Countless studies have shown sitting for long periods of time or at your desk is slowly killing you, so it can get tricky to find time to get up and add more movement into your day.

We spoke to experts at ParticipAction, an organization that encourages Canadians to get up and moving, to find out the easiest ways to get more active at work — without being that annoying employee who's always on everyone's case about health.

"Canadians spend an average of 36.6 hours per week at work – and 60 per cent spend their entire workday seated," the organization said. "Recent research shows the negative impacts that too much sedentary behaviour and too little physical activity can have on the body, including increased risk of chronic disease."

These are tips you can do yourself on a daily basis, or get the whole office involved in. And besides following these tips, we also encourage you to start reevaluating your diet at work. Since many people just go for quick lunches and drink ample amounts of coffee, it may be a good idea to take on another challenge to start bringing your own lunch or making your own brew.
