Toronto Daystarter Wednesday, April 15, 2015

Good morning.

You can expect a sunny, cool spring day today with mainly clear skies and a high of 15 C.

The full Toronto forecast is here.

In the news, about 10,000 people are expected to pack the Ricoh Coliseum this evening as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi travels to Toronto to deliver a major speech. Modi has been called India's "rock star" PM but not everyone is happy about his visit, as a number of protests are also planned.

Expect to hear more about the future of the eastern portion of the aging Gardiner Expressway today. The city will hold a technical briefing today that will lay out in detail three options for the section of the elevated highway from Jarvis Street to the Don Valley Parkway. Options include taking the Gardiner down, maintaining it or going with a "hybrid option" that would realign the existing parkway and connect it to the DVP.

The city will present the three options in a technical briefing for the media today, then hold a public consultation tonight at the Toronto Reference Library at 6:30 p.m. A second public consultation will be held Monday at Blessed Cardinal High School at 100 Brimley Rd. S.

The Blue Jays lost to the Rays last night and will try to get their first home win in game 3 of their series against Tampa Bay tonight.

The Raptors take on the Charlotte Hornets tonight in their regular season finale. A win would give Toronto its best regular season record in franchise history. The Raptors will either face Washington or Milwaukee in the NBA playoffs.
