A student complaint that inappropriate photos of other students were being circulated at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School in Surrey has led to officials disciplining 12 students.

Several photos that officials have found involved other students at the school, according to Doug Strachan, spokesperson for the Surrey school district.

"I can say that they were inappropriate photos," he said Thursday. "A student reported to the school that some senior students had some inappropriate photos and we investigated and as a result of that disciplinary action has been taken involving a dozen students — both girls and boys."

Strachan declined to specify whether the students, who are all in grades 11 and 12, were suspended or expelled, citing privacy reasons.

Strachan said the RCMP has been notified and are looking into whether the students did anything illegal.
