Montreal police said his body was found late Monday evening in the water of the Notre-Dame basin in Parc Jean-Drapeau.
Cottard, who commuted daily from Joliette to his office in downtown Montreal, was first reported missing Dec. 15, 2014.
He had left work to get lunch and then disappeared after making what his partner Lynda Champagne described as "normal banking transactions" at an ATM machine.
Champagne said Cottard never returned to work and never retrieved his car, which he'd left at the Joliette bus station in the morning.
The family was notified of his death last night.
Montreal police said his death does not appear to be criminal.
