Skinnamarinky dinky dink, skinnamarinky do, Lois we'll miss you.

Lois Lilienstein, 78, of Sharon, Lois & Bram died on Thursday in her Toronto home. Her son, David Lilienstein, says she had a rare form of cancer that was diagnosed last fall.

Most Canadians who grew up in the 70s and 80s will remember the trio's singalongs (both on TV and live in concert). From songs that made you move to lyrics about food groups and of course, a big plush elephant, Sharon, Lois & Bram introduced us to some of our most beloved childhood tunes.

Lilienstein, Sharon Hampson, and Bram Morrison met in 1978 and soon recorded their first LP, "One Elephant, Deux Elephants." iTunes currently credits the trio with 500 recorded singles and 18 albums.

According to the Canadian Journal for Traditional Music, the beginning of children's folk music in the country started with the likes of Sharon, Lois and Bram along with other singers like Raffi and Fred Penner.
