Donatella Versace Stars In New Givenchy Campaign With Riccardo Tisci

She's Riccardo Tisci's "ultimate icon."

Well here's a designer collaboration we never saw coming!

Donatella Versace, Italian queen of platinum blond hair and plump lips, has been cast as the newest face of Givenchy. That's right. The iconic fashion designer has leant her visage to the French luxury label, for its fall 2015 campaign. (Just one designer casually helping another.)

Riccardo Tisci (Givenchy's creative director) shared the news via Instagram on Tuesday, saying, "So proud and honored to introduce my new ultimate icon: Donatella Versace..."

In the image, which was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, Versace appears to be almost leaning her head against Tisci's shoulder. Her iconic blond locks are left down and she's sporting a serious smoky eye. The shot offers a much more sombre and subdued look at the glamorous Italian than we're used to, but we still love it.

Versace really is an ultimate icon, so she seems like a perfect choice for the campaign. And maybe now that Tisci's delved into this almost uncharted fashion territory (remember Victoria Beckham for Marc Jacobs), other designers will follow suit. Karl Lagerfeld for The Row, anyone? (He's already friends with the Olsen twins...)

In the meantime, we'll just take a moment to appreciate this hilarious meme:
