Starting May 1, BC Ferries will allow foot passengers travelling from Tsawwassen to any island serviced on the Tsawwassen-Southern Gulf Islands route to make free reservations over the phone.

Prior to this announcement, foot passengers were unable to make reservations.

There are a few stipulations to the program:

- Full fare must be paid in advance by phoning BC Ferries Customer Call Centre or with BC Ferries Vacations.

- Fares are non-refundable, but are transferable to another sailing.

- Reservations can be made up to two hours prior to desired sailing.

- Customers must check-in a minimum of 40 minutes prior to scheduled sailing time.

- Space is limited.

BC Ferries says there will still be tickets available for foot passengers to purchase at the terminal,
