CALGARY - Alberta Wildrose Leader Brian Jean is promising to complete Calgary's ring road if his party wins next Tuesday's election.

He says he would reverse a plan announced by the Progressive Conservatives in last month's budget to delay the final leg for a decade.

Jean says a Wildrose government would begin building the road's western section by or before the planned 2017 start date.

He says the money would come from an infrastructure fund the party would set up to pay for municipal projects such as roads and light-rail transit.

Jean says his party would commit $300 million to $400 million to the fund, along with 15 per cent from any surplus budgets.

He says Alberta's municipalities deserve support from their leaders to keep cities strong.
