Head-on collision sends 3 people to hospital in Vancouver

Emergency responders required the jaws of life to remove one man from his car following a Thursday night crash that sent three people to hospital in Vancouver.

Two vehicles — a car and a sports utility vehicle — were travelling in opposite directions along SW Marine Drive, when one  driver tried to make a left turn onto Manitoba Street.

The crash destroyed both vehicles, and sent the car spinning off the road.

The driver of the car suffered a head injury, according to officials, but he was conscious and breathing.

After using the jaws of life to remove the man from his car, Vancouver firefighters loaded him onto a stretcher and into an ambulance.

An eastbound section of SW Marine Drive was closed for several hours while Vancouver Police investigated the accident.
