Weekend weather

It will be about 9 C during the morning rush, with a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 20 C expected for the day. The warm weather is going to stick around for the weekend, which is shaping up to be a beauty with highs of 21 and 22 C on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. 

Transit

The TTC is moving well so far this morning, though people wanting to take the 95 York Mills to or from the Scarsdale westbound stop have to use the Lesmill or Leslie stops due to construction. 

TTC trains will bypass Union station this weekend for ongoing construction. 

GO Transit is also running on time this morning. 

Toronto Pearson airport and Billy Bishop airport downtown are reporting that air traffic is moving on time. ​

Gardiner closure

The Gardiner Expressway will be closed for routine spring maintenance this weekend. The closure begins at 8 p.m. Friday and lasts until 6 a.m. Sunday, reopening just in time for the Toronto marathon. The marathon will force a number of road closures downtown until about 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Oil train rules

Federal Transport Minister Lisa Raitt will be in Washington, D.C., today with her American counterpart to make an announcement about oil by rail safety. According to a news release, the transport chiefs will focus on the next generation of oil rail cars. The current fleet in use in both Canada and the U.S. needs upgrading or replacement. 

GO Transit death

A visitation for Daniel Panacci, a man killed earlier this week after his backpack got caught in a train at Union station, will be held in Woodbridge from 2 p.m. to 9 p,m. A funeral is scheduled for Saturday.
