RCMP in Iqaluit are responding to the community's second armed standoff in the span of a week.

Police have blocked off part of Creekside Village, commonly known as White Row, after receiving reports of a 27-year old man barricaded inside.

In a news release, RCMP are asking Creekside Village residents in the odd-numbered 200 block and even-numbered 300 block to stay inside their units.  All other people are asked to stay away from the area.

Police are calling it a volatile situation.

This is the second stand off in Iqaluit in a week. The first one ended without injury on Thursday after 42 hours.

More to come.
