Brook Jacoby, Blue Jays hitting coach, handed 14-game unpaid suspension by MLB

On most days, the expected appearance of Blue Jays hitting coach Brook Jacoby in the team's dugout for a game doesn't make headlines. Until Monday, that is.

Major League Baseball handed Jacoby a 14-game unpaid suspension for "post-game conduct toward the umpire crew" on April 29 in Boston, MLB.com reported.

Toronto will appeal the suspension and won't comment further until the appeal has been heard.

The Jacoby incident sparked a change in policy at Fenway Park, where teams will now have wait for the umpire crew to leave the playing field before entering the dugout walkway.

The Blue Jays opened a six-game homestand against the American League East-leading New York Yankees on Monday.
