Chalmette High School Students Help Teacher Propose

High School Students Help Teacher Propose

Sometimes, you need a little help from your friends, or in this teacher’s case, your students.

Jonathan Holt wanted his proposal to his then-girlfriend Iris to be extra special, so he recruited students at Chalmette High School in Chalmette, La., where both he and Iris teach.

“I knew it was going to be a special moment -- the beginning of an epic life together -- and I wanted to involve as many people as possible because the more people that can share that feeling, the more powerful it is,” he told Buzzfeed.

While Iris attended a fake meeting with the principal, Holt ran into her classroom and handed out Ring Pops to the students so they could “propose” to her.

The students couldn’t let Iris get too close to the back of the room, otherwise she’d spot Jose, the photographer, he explained to them.

He needed one student to get down on one knee first, and then all of them would propose in turn, slowly leading her to the front of the classroom, at which point he would walk in.

His elaborate plan works out, albeit with a lot of giggling, and he and now-fiancée Iris walk out of the room to another surprise in the hallway, which you can see in the video above.
